At Selfguard Automation and Controls, we understand the importance of managing power supply between mains and generator sources. Our Three-Phase Automatic Transfer Switch (CTSD) is designed to automatically transfer electrical loads between a three-phase mains supply and a generator.

When one phase of the mains supply fails, the transfer process becomes important for installations that use three-phase electrical equipment. Our CTSD is designed for three-phase mains and three-phase loads and can be installed with either a single-phase or three-phase generator, according to the product's specified configuration.

Understanding Phase Failure in a Three-Phase Supply

A three-phase electrical supply consists of three phases. When any one of these phases becomes unavailable, the normal mains supply condition is affected.

For applications using three-phase loads, the availability of all three phases is important. In such situations, an appropriate transfer system helps manage the changeover between the mains supply and a standby generator.

At Selfguard, we offer our Three-Phase Automatic Transfer Switch (CTSD) for applications involving three-phase mains and three-phase loads.

How Our Selfguard CTSD Responds to Phase Failure

Our CTSD follows an automatic changeover sequence when a mains phase is absent. The process involves the following steps.

1. The Mains Phase Fails

When any phase of the mains supply is absent, our CTSD goes into a no-load condition. This is part of the changeover process before the connected load is transferred to the generator supply.

2. The Generator Starts

Following the mains supply failure, the generator starts to provide the alternative power source. Our CTSD includes an inbuilt delay timer as part of its automatic transfer operation.

3. The Load Transfers to the Generator

Once the generator starts, our CTSD shifts the load to the generator side after the required delay. This allows the transfer between the mains and generator sources to take place automatically.

The CTSD is intended for applications involving three-phase loads, including three-phase air conditioners, lifts, motors and lighting loads.

4. The Mains Supply Returns

When the mains supply becomes available again, all three mains phases must return. Our CTSD then manages the transfer back to the mains supply using its inbuilt delay timer.

During this return sequence, the generator goes into a no-load condition, and the connected load is shifted back to mains.

This automatic sequence manages the transfer from mains to generator and then back to mains when the required supply conditions are restored.

Choosing the Right Three-Phase ATS

At Selfguard Automation and Controls, we provide the CTSD for three-phase mains and three-phase load applications. The selection of our Three-Phase Automatic Transfer Switch (CTSD) is based on the load of the main supply, as specified in our product guidelines.

Our product range is developed for different electrical applications, making it important to select the appropriate model for the intended use.

Selfguard Three-Phase Automatic Transfer Switch

At Selfguard Automation and Controls, we manufacture electrical and electronic automation products, including automatic transfer switches designed for mains and generator applications.

Our Three-Phase Automatic Transfer Switch (CTSD) provides an automatic method of transferring loads between mains and generator power. With its inbuilt delay timer and automatic return-to-mains sequence, the CTSD is designed to manage the changeover process when the mains supply fails and when it becomes available again.
